Collaboration between local government units (LGUs) and national agencies plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient delivery of public services. One such instance of this collaboration was demonstrated in Northern Mindanao, where a simple yet meaningful conversation over a cup of coffee became the foundation for a strengthened partnership between the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the local government of Iligan City.

Building relationships with local chief executives is integral to the success of any government agency’s programs. Recognizing this, the Regional Director of the Jail Bureau, Jail Chief Superintendent Arnold Buenacosa, took the opportunity to meet with Hon. Celso G. Regencia, the esteemed Mayor of Iligan City. Their informal yet productive discussion served as an avenue to extend courtesy to the mayor while also discussing pressing matters concerning jail management in the city and the entire Northern Mindanao region.
